MITB MASTERING IN THE BOX SERIES

The volumes in the ‘MITB Mastering in the Box’ series deal with digital sound processing for audio mastering, entirely within the computer, ITB, In the Box. The ITB method was chosen for various reasons, first and foremost because, thanks to the computing power of today’s computers, it is possible to achieve a high level of precision and calculation, and since such computers are now within everyone’s reach, with the help of these texts it is possible to carry out processes that were previously reserved for mastering studios equipped with extremely expensive equipment.
The volumes in the series alternate between theoretical parts and practical sections on the computer, which should be studied in close connection with each other. These texts can be used by users with different levels of preparation. The minimum level required for those starting to study MITB includes: basic computer skills: knowing how to save, copy and delete files; adequate knowledge of the elements of an electroacoustic chain: preamplifier, amplifier, mixer, loudspeakers. The text should be studied by alternating each theoretical section with the corresponding practical section, including computer activities, and the study can be carried out through self-learning or under the guidance of a teacher.
Steinberg’s WAVELAB Pro and Reaper were used as reference software, both of which are among the most advanced software for audio signal analysis and digital processing.
